I was there
Posted for: DAVID FLOYD ABLE:
David "Abe", as he was called by everyone, is remembered by me along with all those he served with him in Charlie Co.,He was one of those few who showed no fear and persued the enemy with no thought of personal concern to himself.
He and 6 or 7 others were in persuit of 2 Viet Cong at the head of the platoon when we were all ambushed in a rice patty and pinned down under automatic weapons fire from several sides and by several other Viet Cong.
I was the medic who was summoned to his aid but he perished instantly and I could only regret his death as nothing could be done for him.
His memory lives to this day in my mind. I will never forget him. He was a brave soldier, like a rock.
May his soul rest in peace.
