MULTIMEDIA REQUIREMENTS
Our sites use various types of multimedia to present information to you. In order to fully experience these resources, you will need to have the following items installed for your particular browser. All of these items are FREE and available by clicking the buttons shown below.
In order to listen to the audio and video recordings, you will need a sound card, or sound capability installed in your computer along with either external or internal speakers OR the ability to plug in a set of headphones.
Let's start by providing you an overview of these products and how they are used on this site. Please note that all of these items are available for both PC and Mac computers and various operating systems.
Shockwave and Flash:
Different areas of these sites were designed using Macromedia's Flash development software. This program gives us the ability to provide easier navigation and layouts then creating them strictly within an HTML context. The pages using the Shockwave technology are designed to detect whether or not you have the correct browser plug-in installed. If it detects that you don't, it will either be downloaded in the background (Internet Explorer) and installed, or you will be prompted, telling you that you need it. When going to the Macromedia site to obtain the plugin, download the Flash Player version.
Acrobat Reader:
Adobe Acrobat Reader is used to view PDF (Portable Document Format) files. The documents on these sites are in PDF format. Using the Acrobat Reader, you can view the files both on- and off-line by downloading the document. It also has extensive printing control which allows you to print out the entire document or just a series of pages.
If you are not sure if you have these items for your computer and browser, are unsure of how to download and install them, or are positioned behind a firewall and security which prevents you from downloading these items, please contact your local technical support.
BROWSER REQUIREMENTS
While there are numerous browsers available, the site best supports the following browsers: Firefox Version 3.0, or higher; Internet Explorer Version 7.0, or higher; Google Chrome or Safari Version 3.0, or higher. Your experience visiting the site may not be as intended if viewing in other browsers.
CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
Although we recommend broadband internet because of the multimedia content and the file size of some of the documents, the site can be viewed by virtually any connection to the Internet starting at a 28.8K modem.
For viewing the documents and photos available here, the connection speed simply determines how long it takes you to download the files in order to view them. Regarding the multimedia content, reviewing and listening to the files, you may experience periods where the content will freeze on the screen while the computer waits for a sufficient amount of content to load on your computer.
