“SHARE YOUR STORY”
An Event Honoring our Hometown Heroes
(San Antonio, TX)– On Friday September 23, Spurs Sports & Entertainment Chairman and CEO Peter Holt and Al Frakes, CEO/President SAF Studios & Event Co-Chairman will host “Share Your Story: The Education Center at the Wall, Celebrity-Charity, Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament at the AT&T Center.”
Share Your Storyfestivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Free general admittance is open to the public with donations welcome at the door. Donations collected at Share Your Story benefit the campaign to build The Education Center at The Wall – an initiative of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, the group that built and manages The Wall on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
Attendees are encouraged to bring photos and stories of those who served and fell in the line of duty. The photos will be scanned to put on display at the future Education Center at The Wall in Washington, DC; a center on the National Mall that will bring faces to the names of all 58,272 service members listed on The Wall, and display a collection of moving tributes that have been left at The Wall since it was built. Also displayed will be the faces and stories of men and women who have fought for our country, from Bunker Hill to Baghdad, keeping their memories alive and honoring those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
“Share Your Storyserves to honor the courageous men and women all around the globe who, day by day, minute by minute put our future ahead of their own. They are the brave warriors of the United States military. And for their service, it’s now time for us to recognize them,” said Jan C. Scruggs, President and Founder of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
Immediately following Share Your Story will be the Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament & Casino Night hosted by Vince Van Patten of World Poker Tour. The Poker Tournament & Casino Night begins at 7:00 p.m.; you must be 21 to participate in gaming activities. A $275 donation is required to play in the Poker Tournament, this includes entry, a VIP reception, auction, and Casino Night entry; a $75 donation includes entry to the Casino Night, VIP reception, and auction (no poker entry).
For each $5.00 donation at the Share Your Story event, the attendee receives one raffle ticket. All tickets are then entered in a raffle for a trip to Washington, DC for Veteran's Day.
