Christmas Tree at The Wall

A few days before Christmas each year, VVMF staff and volunteers decorate a tree at the apex of The Wall.  Ornaments and messages made by school children from around the country are used to decorate the tree, and boxes of cards are left at its base so that visitors who come to The Wall during the Christmas holidays can read a card and place it on the tree.  Each year, VVMF receives thousands of holiday messages to be placed at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, to honor and remember those who served during the Vietnam War, as well as those currently serving overseas.

The ceremony is open to the public and we encourage you to attend if you're in the Washington, D.C. area.  Additionally, we invite students to create ornaments or cards which are left with the tree at the Memorial.  To learn more about how you can get involved, e-mail vvmf@vvmf.org.
