NASA AND DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR HONOR VIETNAM VETERANS WITH NOV. 13 EVENTS
NASA Breakfast to Salute Vietnam Veterans;
Department of the Interior Museum Unveils Exhibit at Evening Event
Washington, D.C. — The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will join NASA and the Department of the Interior for two events honoring Vietnam Veterans on Nov. 13, the actual 25th anniversary of The Wall’s dedication, announced Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
A NASA Salute to Vietnam Veterans will be held at the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill at 7:30 a.m. During this breakfast reception, the Memorial Fund and NASA will honor the 37 astronauts and NASA personnel who are Vietnam veterans.
Also that day, the Department of the Interior will unveil its exhibit on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial during a special reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. at its Department of the Interior Museum, 1849 C Street, NW, Washington, D.C. The exhibit’s focus is the history of the Memorial and will include items left at The Wall that are now part of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Collection. The event will feature remarks by the Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne and Memorial Fund Founder and President Jan C. Scruggs.
“Twenty-five years ago, on Nov. 13, I was proud to dedicate the Vietnam Veterans Memorial,” Scruggs noted. “As we mark the anniversary, we are pleased to have NASA and the Department of the Interior with us co-hosting events to commemorate this historic date.”
The NASA Salute to Vietnam Veterans will take place on Tuesday morning, November 13, from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in Room B339 of the Rayburn House Office Building. This event is open the press and by invitation only to the public.
The Department of the Interior exhibit unveiling takes place on Tuesday evening, Nov. 13, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Interior Museum, located at 1849 C Street, NW in Washington, D.C. This event is open to the press and by invitation only to the public.
